HIGHLIGHT 2020

One year is almost over. Another year is about to begin.

2020 felt like a roller-coaster ride for almost everyone due the COVID-19 pandemic. We needed to adjust our many ways of connecting, sharing, working, learning, and helping each other. If there’s one thing 2020 has shown us, it’s how we’re all finding ways to stick together and stay strong.  Nonetheless, we would like to thank you for choosing to be with us throughout this time. This year, the RANU WELUM advocated for an “Indigenous Arising” approach through our media publications and various relief efforts. Here are the highlights of 2020:

Act as if what you do makes a difference.
— William James
A dream you dream alone is only a dream. A dream you dream together is a reality.
— John Lennon

We sincerely thank you for the endless support you have been giving us and for always being a part of our journey to voice justice for the Indigenous Peoples. 2019 has been a very challenging year, where the threats turned into realities that we had to face. Although devastating, we overcome it all. Now we got achievements to cherish on and blessings to be grateful of. The stories that matter got heard, haze crisis tackled, youth movement became stronger than ever. Together, we are definitely stronger.

History never really says goodbye. It says, “See you later.”
— - Eduardo Galeano -

We want to thank you for standing with us in this fight to stand for our people, empower our youth, preserve Dayak culture and save Kalimantan forest. As we welcome the next year, our struggles continue. The threats become more clear than ever, yet we are getting stronger. There are so many urgent actions we need to take to and sometimes we see they are too big for us to achieve. However, like what an elder from Ecuador tribe Alicia Salazar said, through partnership, big dreams can become reality.

HIGHLIGHT 2017

The more you know about the past, the better prepared you are for the future.
— Theodore Roosevelt

We really cannot do these all without you. Thank you for your love and supports that have been poured out on the efforts to protect the forest of Borneo, preserve the Dayak culture, fight against the human rights violation and empower indigenous youth in Kalimantan. We would love to continue this journey with you by our side.
